Been there, did that. Never was on one of those big gray floating things though.

I already did in 2003. No thanks, I'm good now.

Nah, I joined the Army instead. Never was able to get over a fear of drowning.

As the twin Bofors blazed away steadily at the weaving Zero, Seaman Smith, facing the other way, heaved a 55 pound five inch shell across the slippery deck. He heard the kamikaze plane, louder and louder, but he never saw it.

Tried, they filled their quota in my specialty from prior service, so I got a "come back in December".

thats how we figured it. Planes? Plummeting to your death. On fire. Boats? Drowning. And sharks. And also on fire . You, not the sharks. Although now my nightmares will involve sharks on fire. Shit.
Army? Bang boom kapow. Dead. No plummeting, no drowning, no sharks (flaming or not). It's not the dying. It's the length of time that it takes.
Also, seaman Steve there should get gigged for not wearing the correct cover during an attack.

Well, I'm Aviation, not a grunt, so plummeting still applies to me. So does my aircraft eating itself.

I guess we're the only ones here who picked up on the blatant homoeroticism of this poster

I was under contract in the Canadian Forces. I think they have helicopters. Rumour says we even keep some jetplanes somwhere. Can't fly em. They have too many pilots and they all sit there saying, "no, I insist. After you."
